Wei Barisan! Yes! You! If you are so good with hillslope development, why are people up in arms about Bukit Kiara, answer me that? The issue made the front page of The Star Metro (Central) featuring the headline "WALKING FOR KIARA" and sub head "More than 1,000 people showed their commitment towards preserving and safeguarding Bukit Kiara by taking part in a walk to save the hill." Now THIS is what I call public service!!! How many of you would like to see ALL our elected representatives perform REAL public service like this? Maybe we should make it compulsory for them to do so? Maybe we should also make it compulsory for anyone wanting to stand for elections in the first place to clock up X number of hours of public service, sort of like how you need to clock up so much air time before you get your pilot's licence? Ooooh, I would so love to see how the wives with their Birkin bags follow their hubbies to go sweep longkangs etc. All in favour say, "AYE" right now!

Thank you Dr Chandra Muzaffar. You are right. We the rakyat really don't care how one group of politicians rubbish another group of politicians. What we are concerned about is that our hard-earned tax dollars are not wasted and that real problems get solved! I don't care if problems are seen to be solved. I want them solved, whether they appear to be or not. Getting rid of corruption and underhanded dealing is the first step but there is so much more to do, not least of which is addressing the problem of poverty. And I think there is waaaaaay too much rural to urban migration. The building of additional residential property and improving infrastructure addresses the symptom not the cause. I want to see more even development across the nation so that rural to urban migration will be deemed unnecessary by the rakyat because they can get good jobs and career development without having to leave their home states the way I had to back in '83. So, whether you are one party or another, be forewarned, you have a whole lot on your plate to deal with. My primary 4 teacher used to tell us, don't trouble the trouble or the trouble will come to trouble you. Those were wise words from a primary school teacher of St. Xavier's Institution, Penang. Learn from them!

Who is addressing the hillslope issues faced by KL people?

So kind and generous (yes I am being sarcastic) but mummy always said if you cannot mind your own business don't mind other people's business. Before Barisan kindly offers to help solve hillslope development problems in Penang, have you already addressed all the problems faced by people in Damansara Heights or anywhere else in Kuala Lumpur? The Straits Times tells us that KL is gradually becoming ungreen (see NST link below) and is that not a problem for Barisan to mind, before it minds things happening is someone else's jurisdiction? That same report says, "Originally, Bukit Kiara was designated as a public park, but over the years, its land area had diminished. Part of it has now become housing estates." Someone had better have a talk with the National Landscape Department. Would that be you Barisan? Or maybe we should talk about how the local population feels about the Damansara-Shah Alam Highway (DASH) and how that is going to affect their way of life and their property prices especially when they find themselves looking out of their front doors to face a concrete wall holding up a highway the same as those poor folk in Damansara Kim (opposite Tropicana City Mall) who had no idea what was going to hit them when they bought their homes thirty or so odd years ago. How? Still want to kay poh chee other people's business?

Open Burning? Really? Isn't that illegal? What are the police doing?

Whoa! Isn't this illegal? Are the police looking at this and taking action? That's what I want to know. You guys already know by now how I feel about politicians. I think they are the scum of the earth and deserve to be strung up by their toes and left to fester in the hot noon sun with earthworms and other wriggly things stuffed in their armpits! As such, I really don't give a fig what they choose to do to each other. They could blow each other to smithereens for all I care. But when what they do starts to affect me, well, that's where I draw the line. Now, what I want to know is whether or not open burning is illegal. The photo shows diesel being poured but police will have to determine if the paper was actually set alight or not (and diesel burnt like this produces a lot of smoke, correct me if I am wrong), and if so how to bring the miscreants to justice at a time when one of the biggest words many Malaysians shudder to think of is "HAZE." It is bad enough that we are getting that from fires burning in Indonesia (if what we are told is to be believed), but far worse when our own people are doing this here to us. I don't care if Mr Murugan cares or not whether his grandmother's lungs are damaged by his callous actions, but I care whether my lungs are affected. If nothing else, I think he should be made to sit in a closed up room with piped-in carbon monoxide from a car left running outside it! Thank you The Star for highlighting this act which is not only stupid but potentially illegal!! Now, police, do your duty! It IS what WE pay YOU for!
